National Eye Institute – Part of the National Institutes of Health, the NEI was established to protect and prolong the vision of the American people, primarily by conducting research to prevent and treat eye diseases.

American Foundation for the Blind – AFB promotes technological access and provides people with important information and tools for those living with vision loss and their families.

National Federation of the Blind – The NFB improves blind people’s lives through advocacy, education, research, technology, and programs encouraging independence and self-confidence.

American Council for the Blind – ACB is the nation’s leading membership organization of blind and visually impaired people and strives to improve their well-being.

Reader’s Digest Partners for Sight Foundation – Partners for Sight is a grant-making foundation whose mission is to increase the self-reliance of the blind and visually impaired.

Lighthouse International – The Lighthouse is one of the largest non-profit organizations dedicated to preserving vision and helping those with vision loss. They provide direct rehabilitation services.

Helen Keller International – Helen Keller International combats the causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition by establishing programs based on evidence and research in vision, health and nutrition.

Schepens Eye Institute – Schepens fights blindness by developing new technologies, therapies and knowledge to retain and restore vision. Through a continuum of discovery, the Institute works toward a future in which blindness is prevented, alleviated, and, ultimately, cured.

Vision Loss and Personal A new blog for people coping with vision loss and those close to them who are affected by it, providing tips and advice for day to day life and social situations. The site was started by Hannah Fairbairn, Interpersonal Skills Instructor from The Carroll Center for the Blind.
